Decide!

November 13, 2009 by Eugen Oprea

Make up your mind rather than sitting on the fence. Decide!

It’s good to make a decision, even if it’s not a wise or a perfect one.

Not deciding is most of the times the wrong decision.

People are making decisions every second: to read the newspaper, to make a call, to look through the window; but those decisions that truly count are sometimes left aside.

It’s easy to start with the simplest thing from your daily tasks, because you can get it done fast. However, if you start with the thing that’s the hardest one to do – you will achieve so much more than you thought you would.

It’s easy to get stuck on a job position for years without making any progress, because it’s safer and because you got used to it.

It’s easy to get stuck with charging your clients the same fee, because you are too afraid of losing them. But you miss realizing that they would probably be willing to pay more if they consider to be a valuable asset.

It’s easy to postpone launching that blog, writing that book, shooting that video, things that could truly make a difference – because we are doing just fine within our comfort zone or because are too lazy to do something that really matters.

Don’t join the club of those who can’t make a difference. Decide!

Decide to do what matters, what’s important and makes a difference! Decide to challenge the status quo.

It’s great to make decisions, but keep in mind that you need to be aware of the consequences your choices might have on people around you. Be wise and think carefully before taking action, because what you do may hurt or negatively impact someone.

When launching a blog, don’t immediately sign your resignation and doom your family. Instead, be patient and wait for the blog to pick up some traffic and get some income before taking the plunge.

When starting a new project that require a large investment, do not put everything in it. Instead, make sure you have a safe net in case things go wrong.

Even if “wise”, “perfect”, “good”, “wrong” are just labels and a good idea for you can be a bad idea for someone else – aim high and choose a path that is good for you and doesn’t have a negative impact on people around you. Decide!

Make a decision or make several, think and analyze.

Ideally, you would want to make a decision that it’s informed and wise, and that wouldn’t negatively affect others. Then, that decision should make a difference and it should challenge the status quo.

We do not live in a perfect world so we don’t have to make perfect decisions, even if we are aiming for perfection. It would be great if we were able to make a perfect one, but when that is not possible – making a decision is just as good.

Don’t sit on the fence. Make up your mind. Decide!
