It happened to me once. I lost 6 months of hard work and it was painful.

Back in 2006, I created, together with two of my friends, an online community which started to grow quite fast and soon became well-known.

But soon after the launch, the worst happened. Our website was hacked. That was hard, quite hard, but the hardest part was that we did not have backups, so the ultimate solution was to stop working for that project.

Now, if you are thinking that having a simple backup could have saved our 6 months of hard work, you will not have seconds thoughts to get yourself an automatic backup system in place for your WordPress website.

Dropbox – Your Magic Pocket

I just recommended this great application to Dawn Kotzer and I thought you guys also should find out more about it.

Dropbox is a web and desktop based application which syncronizes files across multiple computers.

With Dropbox, you can backup your files and not worry about them anymore. It let’s you share files with anyone in no time and it’s accessible online, from every computer you install it.

Quix – An Extensible Bookmarklet from Yoast

Following Shortwave, one of Shaun Inman‘s many ideas, Joost de Valk from Yoast released Quix – a command line bookmarklet tool for your browser, on steroids! 🙂

Quix combines multiple bookmarklets across multiple browsers and allows you to keep all of them gathered in one place.

Quix is an extensible bookmarklet, that allows you to easily access all your bookmarks and bookmarklets, across all your browsers, while maintaining them in only one spot. All you have to do is remember the shortcut for the bookmarklet, so, basically, it’s like a command line for your browser!
